SUZHOU SELECTS NAGRAVISION CONDITIONAL ACCESS SOLUTIONS TO MIGRATE ITS PLATFORM FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL

  • Chinese Suzhou Digital Television Company Ltd has selected Nagravision to provide its leading conditional access end-to-end solutio
  • The Suzhou contract extends Nagravision’s presence within Eastern China, further strengthening its position in the country

Cheseaux, Switzerland and Singapore – May 23, 2007 – Nagravision, a Kudelski Group (SWX:KUD.VX) company, today announced that Suzhou Digital Television Company Ltd has selected Nagravision latest conditional access for the launch and transition of the digital cable TV services from analog for its subscribers in Suzhou.

By adopting Nagravision’s technology, Suzhou digital programming package will expand to more than 200 channels from its current offering of 50 analog channels. Nagravision’s leading digital technology will support Suzhou Digital Television Company Ltd’s business and security needs enabling the company to launch more advanced business models and services on a secure and flexible platform.

Founded in December 1999, Suzhou Cable TV Network Company Ltd, authorized by People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, is responsible for the construction, development, management and administration of a cable TV network and the transmission of cable TV programs around Suzhou. The company has laid about 6000 kilometers of fibers in the city of Suzhou, and its hybrid fiber and cable network is covering Suzhou urban district, high-tech development zones and industrial parks serving nearly 700,000 TV users. Its network can connect with the backbone networks in Jiangsu Province constituting an open-type wideband comprehensive transmission network with large capacity.

Nagravision conditional access solutions include features such as encryption, subscription services, PPV, and support on-demand services including Subscription Video-on-Demand (VOD) and Movie-on-Demand, DVR, Push-VOD, season and team tickets, tiers pricing, targeted messages, conditional products. The solutions can also manage the security needs of interactive applications such as t-commerce, t-banking and t-voting. The conditional access solutions handle subscriber updates and new subscriber enrollment and manage all encryption modules. In addition to basic scenarios (clear encrypted streams, free controlled access), protected access to particular products can be given for a limited period of time, a certain number of times or under certain conditions.
